Walter Maxwell, at the young age of 89, is the last active founding member of the Timothy Hill Board of Directors with his role beginning in 1976. Walter has been a tremendous supporter and has been on-hand for many of Timothy Hill’s milestones. His heart has always been with helping children and families, which is what led him to Timothy Hill so many years ago. With 11 children, 22 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren, Walter shares his own life experiences in helping young people and bringing them to Christ.
Walter has been involved with the Roosevelt Church of Christ in Roosevelt, NY for over 54 years. He retired from his Senior Minister duties in 2019. He currently serves as Minister Emeritus with his wife of 61 years, Pauline, right by his side. Originally an X-Ray technician at Nassau University Medical Center, Walter left that field to heal souls in the church. His leadership as a minister has been felt across Long Island, helping to establish congregations in Glen Cove and Far Rockaway, NY, as well as around the world, and lecturing in congregations in Bermuda, Trinidad, and Jamaica.
To honor Walter and his lifetime of work for the fatherless, Timothy Hill renamed the longstanding Arnold House to the Maxwell House on June 4th, 2022.
We are so grateful for Walter’s commitment to our organization and our mission of Transforming Lives through Christ’s love. May we see just as many miracles and lives made better in the next 46 years!
