As we approach the end of the year, it’s easy to get lost in the holiday spirit. Mariah Carey is on the radio, Christmas lights are everywhere, and there’s the hustle and bustle of last minute shoppers getting their gifts. However, throughout this time of joy and celebration, it is important to keep in mind those who are less fortunate.

Here at Timothy Hill Ranch, we have the privilege of serving those who aren’t as lucky. For some of our guys, Christmas is not viewed as a time of celebration. When asking an average child what they’d want, some may ask for video games or toys, but our young men have some different answers. Upon asking some of our guys what they wanted for Christmas, we received answers like “I just wish I had my older brother back” or “I just want some people to be around.” Some of our guys were never given a Christmas experience while others haven’t been able to celebrate in years.

This video reflects a sample of some of the hardships our young men have experienced during the holidays; some never received gifts before while others didn’t have families with which to celebrate. Although the young people we serve may have come from different walks of life, there is a common goal that we have here at Timothy Hill:

We work at this one step at a time, piece by piece. We are striving to change the negative stigma around Christmas for them by providing a joy-filled, cheerful, positive environment. Secret Santa gifts, companionship, and tons of delicious food are just a few things we’ve come to love about the holidays, and now our desire is to share these experiences with them. With your help, we can keep pouring our love into these young people during the holiday season and transforming what they see as negative into a time of love, joy and peace!

In this time of turbulence for them, we would urge you to help ease their burdens by embracing the spirit of giving. Together, we can provide a Christmas for our guys that they deserve. While the holidays can bring memories of grief, we have the opportunity to create a positive experience they will remember.
